Flowery April

With the arrival of spring, Opatija’s parks are in full bloom again. This floral wealth will be further emphasised by two events dedicated to flowers: Floral Week and Đardin.

Flowery April
Floral Week, an attractive international artistic event taking place from 15 to 21 April, will bring to Opatija numerous renowned floral designers from Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. During seven days dedicated to colourful flowers, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the creation of a vegetation sculpture dedicated to the 180th anniversary of tourism in Opatija, various demonstrations and lectures by masters of floral design, an exhibition of floral art, and a spectacular floral fashion show. World-famous floral designers Tamás Mezőffy, Vincenzo Antonuccio, Giuseppe Contartese, Marilena Calbini, Christina Cianci Žerić and Simon Ogrizek will participate in the programme, as will students and staff of the floristry department of the School of Building Industry and Crafts, Rijeka. The event includes a flower fair at Slatina from 13 to 16 April.
The finale of the floral month will be marked by an event in Angiolina Park: Đardin (named after the word for garden in local dialect) will bring together gardening enthusiasts and visitors interested in flowers and planting, and will also feature entertainment and educational elements. During the festival, from the 26 to 28 April, visitors will have the opportunity to buy seasonal and other flowers, cacti and indoor plants, as well as to attend workshops for children and adults dedicated to topics such as making an exotic Kokedama (ball of soil with an ornamental plant) or just ‘getting started’ with vegetable and flower seedlings.
